Grant Applicants (CDBG & ESG)


Each year, the Bureau of Economic Development (BED) partners with the Department of Planning and Development (DPD) to solicit grant applications for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) funding through a competitive process.         

Program Year 2021

The 2021 CDBG application for Capital Improvement, Demolition and Economic Development is now available.  The CDBG Public Service / Planning application and ESG application will be made available later in the year.

Similar to last year, application submissions will be handled via an online submission process. The link to the CDBG Capital Improvement, Demolition and Economic Development application submission page is below., The focus of the available application is capital projects.The CDBG Public Service-Planning and ESG applications will be posted here when they are released.

Capital Improvement applications are due by 5:00pm on March 12, 2021. 

Important notice for this year’s CDBG application cycle: Non-profits may apply for one CDBG Capital Improvement project and one CDBG Public Service / Planning project (when the Public Service / Planning application is released). Otherwise, there is a limit of one funding application per agency.

Webinar/workshop materials from January 27, 2021
We hosted a virtual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application webinar/workshop for potential applicants on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.  The focus of the workshop was on capital improvements and was held in conjunction with the Cook County Department of Transportation who provided information on applying for Invest in Cook grants.
