About Rabies Vaccine and Microchip Clinics

The Cook County Animal and Rabies Control vaccination and microchip clinics protects public health by increasing the availability of life protecting rabies vaccinations to pet owners at an affordable cost. Our high visibility in every area in the County also reminds all pet owners that rabies vaccinations are required by law and it's important to vaccinate dogs, cats and ferrets. Ensuring residents' pets remain healthy by getting vaccinated helps stop the spread of rabies among our pet and human population.

Cook County Animal and Rabies Control also provides free microchips to all Cook County residents that purchase a rabies vaccincation. However, the pet owner is required to pay a one-time national registration fee. At our clinics, we assist the pet owner with completing the registration forms to ensure that the pet is properly registered. The microchip is not a GPS, it cannot show the location of the lost pet. It is important for pet owners to register their pet with the microchip company from which the microchip was derived (forms will be provided). If pet owners did not register their pet's microchip from a previous clinic, please contact our office to obtain information about enrollment.
