The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office hosts Missing Persons Day in Cook County to help families reconnect with missing loved ones.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
- Family and friends of a person missing longer than one month
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- This is a FREE event for the public
- Enter information into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
- Provide DNA samples (cheek swabs)
- Connect with counselors and other families
- You may also report family members missing longer than one month if not done previously
WHAT TO BRING:
- Most recent photos of the missing person, as well as any photos of tattoos, piercings and any identifying scars or marks
- X-rays, dental records, medical records and other identifying documents
- Medical information the could identify your loved one such as medical hardware or implants (pacemaker, metal rods/screws)
- At least one biologically related family members of the missing person to provide DNA
- Police report or police report number for reference. If you have not already filed a missing persons report, you will be able to do so at the event.
