Bureau of Economic Development Announces Affordable Housing Website and Event

Originally published at the Cook County Economic Development website, Commit to Cook, October 24, 2012: The Cook County Bureau of Economic Development rolled out their new website geared towards affordable housing in Cook County, IL. Highlights of the website include the work of the Department of Planning and Development and their work with the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) and HOME Programs. The website outlines guidelines for homeowners, income requirements, housing counseling centers and frequently asked questions. A section is specifically geared towards homes for sale under the NSP Program in suburban Cook County. It is broken down by neighborhoods and gives information on realtors and lenders. This new website will be updated as new information comes to us. We also want to tell you about an upcoming event on affordable housing: The CityLIFT (Let’s Invest for Tomorrow) Program invests in the future by supporting sustainable homeownership and neighborhood stability. A collaborative effort sponsored by Wells Fargo, NeighborWorks America and NHS of Chicago, the program offers: Down payment assistance for qualified buyers of $15,000 Free financial education to help buyers prepare for homeownership One-on-one counseling to address any barriers to homeownership THE PROGRAM LAUNCH EVENT: Date: October 26 - 27, 2012 Time: 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Location: McCormick Place, Hall F2, 2301 S.
