Cook County Invites Residents to Participate in Solar Switch Chicagoland

Program helps County residents save on solar installation

Cook County, along with DuPage, Kane, Lake and Will Counties, is partnering with the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) and Citizens Utility Board (CUB) to kick off Solar Switch Chicagoland. This group buy program, formerly known as Grow Solar Chicagoland, offers homeowners and small businesses a more accessible and affordable way to take advantage of solar installation.

“Cook County is proud to participate in the Solar Switch Chicagoland program for the fourth year,” said Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. “This program helps homeowners and small businesses save on their utility bills and reduce emissions. It’s a win for residents and for the environment.”

Solar Switch Chicagoland leverages the purchasing power of a group and the expertise of MREA and CUB to make quality solar installations possible at a discounted price. The program runs a reverse auction and selects quality and vetted installers to serve the group. The program is available to all Cook County residents.

To participate in the program, Cook County residents can register online for free and without obligation. Based on basic information provided about a resident’s home and utility bills, a personal recommendation will be sent by August 8 for review and approval. Once residents interested in participating in the program accept their offer, qualified installers will conduct remote and onsite roof assessments. After the final quote has been approved, the installation will be scheduled.
